Job Title: WEB SUPPORT ANALYST IMT/PPC 02
The Job: This is a 3rd Party Contract Staff Position

Job Objective

The appointee shall:
• Maintain and support NLNG Web/Intranet Systems to ensure their continued effective support of business processes and ensure the availability and reliability of Web/intranet systems through Web Server management, web security & Integrity.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

The duties will include but not limited to the following:
• Proactively implement and maintain web/intranet-based technology solutions for improving process efficiency while continuously investigating web/intranet site improvement opportunities to reduce costs and enhance customer service, and web technology utilizing a variety of web workflow tool
• Design, build and maintain web pages, develop user interface features, site animation, and special-effects elements, and contribute to the design group’s efforts to enhance the look and feel of on-line offerings.
• Lead in the planning, analysis, specification, designing, testing and implementation of various web/intranet projects, including reporting.
• Supervise the operations of the editors/authors (content managers); ensure security, quality assurance, conformity to standards, and the overall integrity of the web/intra net through constant review of contents and graphics, and ensure adequate training of content managers.
• Build, manage and administer an MIIS 6 web server including user administration, FTP administration, documentation hierarchy and site security; create monitoring reports and logs, and ensure functionality of Jinks; monitor site for acceptable performance and user accessibility. Establish backups and monitor site security.

Jod and Vacancies Education, Experience and Competency requirement

• BSc/HND in Computer Science/Engineering obtained at a minimum of Second Class Lower Division/lower Credit
• 3- 5 years post graduation experience, 2 of which should be in core web administration, support and development
• Must possess excellent Knowledge of Database Design, Web Security Management, Web Server Administration, Web Application Support, System Testing, System Design and Integration, IT systems and Business Analysis
• Able to interface and communicate effectively with others in a multi discipline and multiracial project team
• Must not be more than 30 years old

What is Human Resources?

Human Resources may be the most misunderstood of all corporate departments, but it's also the most necessary. Those who work in Human Resources are not only responsible for hiring and firing, they also handle contacting job references and administering employee benefits.

It's true that any individual who works in Human Resources must be a "people person." Since anyone in this department deals with a number of employees, as well as outside individuals, on any given day, a pleasant demeanor is a must.

Managing employees is a major job, so those in Human Resources must be equal to the task. Ten or twenty years ago, Human Resources personnel were rarely seen. Instead they worked behind the scenes to ensure personnel records were in order and employee benefits were being properly administered, but the job stopped there. Today's Human Resources personnel don't only handle small administrative tasks. They are responsible for staffing major corporations. This is no minor feat.

It's not enough to be able to screen potential employees, however. Those who work in Human Resources also have to be able to handle a crisis in a smooth, discreet manner. Whether the issue is health care related or regarding sexual harassment or employee disputes, a person working in Human Resources must be trusted to keep an employee's personal details to him or herself. The Human Resource team must also be a good judge of morale and realize when morale boosting incentives are needed. It's up to them to make sure all employees are comfortable with their surroundings and working under acceptable, if not above average, conditions.

For those looking to enter a career in Human Resources, a college education is necessary. One doesn't necessarily have to have a degree in Human Resources, however. Majoring in Business Administration, Psychology, Labor Relations and Personnel Administration, as well as degrees in Social and Behavioral Sciences, can also be beneficial.

Human Resources may have gotten a bum rap, but it's clearly among the most important departments in any corporation. The next time you have to meet with someone from Human Resources, remember that without him or her, your company might not be running so efficiently.

  • Read the college's bulletin boards. Many colleges have bulletin boards set up for students to advertise their books for sale. You can find a student who has just finished the course you are about to take, and purchase their books really cheap


  • Check out the school's book store. Often the college offers used textbooks for sale near the new ones. This may cost you more than if you purchased them from another student, but it is still cheaper than paying full price for the textbooks

  • Visit off-campus used bookstores. These book stores exist near college campuses, and offer used textbooks cheaper than the college bookstore does. These stores somet imes do not have all of the books you need, but even if you get some, you will save money

  • Use the Internet to purchase used textbooks (see resources). All you need is to get the ISBN number of the textbook you want to purchase. You can get the number from your college bookstore if it isn't automatically printed on your list. Make sure you add the shipping charges into the price before you decide if you are saving money on your online purchase.

What is a Stenographer?

A stenographer is a trained professional that makes use of specific forms of shorthand to accurately transcribe verbal communications as they occur or from a recording. Making use of shorthand techniques that were once commonly employed by administrative assistants in an office setting, a stenographer is often used in legal settings as well as in preparing written records of high profile business meetings. One of the more common career options for a stenographer today is that of court reporter.

When employed in a courtroom, the court stenographer will transcribe all testimony, arguments and rulings as they take place. Because of the nature of the proceedings, it is essential that a stenographer working in this particular field be extremely accurate and detailed in the information that is transcribed. Stenography should not be confused with the process of dictation that was once common in most office settings. While both practices make use of shorthand to prepare transcripts, the dictation work of administrative assistants is usually confined to the preparation of documents such as letters or interoffice memos. By contrast, the stenographer is focused on the preparation of permanent records that often have legal standing in a court of law.

Training as a stenographer requires mastering the art of shorthand as well as developing a keen ear and excellent hand coordination. When the stenographer intends to pursue assignments in a business setting, the training necessary can be completed in as little as six months. However, the training requirements for a court stenographer are more extensive and may take up to six years to complete. Certification as a stenographer may be granted by a business school, although there are colleges and universities that offer degree programs that relate to the profession as well.
