NECO Results GCE/SSCE Exams 2009/2010 Registration results on CEMTP
The National Examination Council, NECO is authorized to organise Senior School Certificate Examination, SSCE in Nigeria. NECO SSCE certificate is one credential required for admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. NECO SSCE may also serve as a minimum educational qualification for obtaining certain kinds of Jobs. You may also be required to present a NECO SSCE certificate in Jobs that require higher qualifications. If you plan taking NECO SSCE in 2010, this is the time to start preparing. NECO SSCE for those still in Secondary Schools will be held in June/July, while NECO SSCE for private students comes up around November 2010. NECO SSCE Registration is available online for private students via CEMTP, however registration has not started and will probably not start until the second half of 2010. E-registration is not available for NECO June/July examination as candidates are registered through their respective secondary schools. So, if you are a secondary school student planning to take NECO SSCE,registration will be through your school. NECO Examination Website is at www.mynecoexams.com, there you will find information about NECO, its history, Exams, and contacts. However, NECO is now a member of the Converged Examinations Management Technology Platform CEMTP, which seeks to offer a one stop platform for access to all examinations conducted in Nigeria. Currently NECO and NABTEB examinations can be accessed on CEMTP website at www.nigeriaexams.com. Once you buy a CEMTP scratch card for N850 at a designated selling point, you can then create a CEMTP account and enter a profile. You can then register for any examination available on the CEMTP platform. Currently NECO and NABTEB examinations are available at CEMTP. You will still need to pay separate registration fees for each exam you are interested in.
NECO SSCE registration has started for secondary school students, but this will be done through their respective schools. Registration for NECO SSCE for private students have not started. When the registration for private students starts in the second half of 2010, it will be through the CEMTP website. To access the website for your NECO registration, you will need to buy a CEMTP scratch card at a designated selling point for N850. Visit the CEMTP website, scratch the card to reveal the PIN. Enter the PIN and the CEMTP card serial number in the box provided and press the signup button. Then you will create a profile by providing some basic info about yourself. Then Create a username and password to enable access the site in future and upload your photo of not more than 10 kilobytes, and click the submit button. Finally, click on NECO registration to fill out the NECO online registration form. Your CEMTP account is valid for one year and can be used to check your NECO results when they are released.
What is NECO SSCE?
NECO SSCE is an examination taken by students at the end of their secondary school education. The NECO SSCE certificate is a reqiurement for gaining admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria. NECO SSCE can also be used for securing jobs. An alternative to NECO SSCE is the WAEC SSCE. Candidates seating for NECO SSCE are allowed to select up to nine subjects. Candidates are expected to pass five subjects at credit level to gain admission into a University in Nigeria. Most courses will require that the five credit subject must include English Language and Mathematics. NECO organises other examinations like the NECO Junior School Certificate Examination, the NECO National Common Entrance, and the NECO Gifted Examination into Federal Academy Suleja.

Apple iPad has finally unveiled it's long awaited Tablet computer, the Apple iPad. After months of speculation and hype, the Apple iPad was announced and shown to the public for the first time by Apple CEO, Steve Jobs. But after all the hype and rumors, some were left disappointed, the Apple iPad lacks multi-tasking and a built-in camera contrary to expectation. Aside these, the Apple iPad is a cool looking gadget with a potential of setting new standards in the digital media industry. As the iPad goes on sale in April, the question on everybody's mind is, is it going to change the world like the Apple iPod and iPhone before it?
Apple iPad is essentially a big iPod Touch. However, the large size means it can be good at other applications that iPod Touch still struggles with today. Like the Amazon Kindle DX, Apple iPad has a 9.7-inch display, however Apple iPad is fatter at 0.5-inch and heavier at 1.5 pounds.
Apple iPad features an LED-backlit widescreen Multi-Touch colour display, making it great for your videos, maps, and for surfing the web. e-books, newpapers, and magazines will also benefit from the colour display, offering a rich and glossy look. Apple iPad features a resolution of 1024 x 768 with a pixel density of 132 ppi, and makes great view whether in portrait or landscape.
Apple iPad will be available in two main models: a Wi-Fi only model and a WiFi + 3G model. Both models come with either 16GB, 32GB, or 64 GB storage and run on a 1 GHz processor. iPad will offer up to 10 hours, although it is not clear in what applications.
No doubt Apple iPad will be a multi-purpose gadget having relevance as an e-reader, a gaming platform, a netbook/tablet, a media player, in printing/scanning, in maps/navigation, and so on. iPad as an e-reader has generated lots of buzz, especially with 2010 being seen as the year of e-readers. A number of tech enthusiasts have predicted the demise of the Amazon Kindle because of the multi-purpose capability of the iPad and its ability of delivering contents in brilliant colours, but that remains to be seen especially when you factor in Kindle's lower purchase and maintenance cost and the e-ink factor.
Apple also announced the iBooks App for the iPad, which will enable users buy e-books at the iBook store. Downloaded e-books are arranged brilliantly in a book shelf, making them easier to access in just a tap. With a brilliant colour screen, Apple iPad will display books in brilliant colours, which can make reading with it a pleasure. iPad will be great for your newspapers, glossy magazines, maps, and even your Biology textbook. As stated earlier iPad is a big iPod Touch, so expect great media and mobile gaming capability that the iPod Touch is well known for. Watch HD Videos and TV shows directly on iPad as well as with a YouTube App. An iPod App is provided to give you the same music experience you get from the iPod. iPad can also sync with content you already have in iTunes on your computer, saving you time and money.

Free online e-mail services like Yahoomail, Gmail, and Hotmail have been working to protect us from scam e-mails, but the phishers seem to come up with new ways to beat the filtration system. Scam e-mails seem to beat Yahoo mail more than the other email platforms. Here you find some tips on protecting yourself from scam e-mails on Yahoo mail and other e-mail platforms.
Scam e-mails are usually sent to your e-mail address by phishers. Their aim is to collect personally identifiable information and valuable information from you. Common targets are your name, address, phone number, ATM PIN, Credit/debit card details, banking details, and on. With these information they will either steal your money or steal your identity (identity theft).
Here are a few tips on protecting yourself from scam e-mails:
Do not give out your personal to anyone you do not know
One common method used by phishers to steal your identity is to send you a scam e-mail telling you that you have won something like a lottery, a promo, or a scholarship and then urging you to provide them with your details so that you will redeem your winning. If you fall for this scam then you are about to lose your identity or even your money. Do not respond to such a scam e-mail, it is not worth it.
Do not reveal your ATM PIN to anyone
Have you received a scam e-mail informing you of an upgrade on InterSwitch payment platform and then advising you to update your ATM details or your ATM card will become invalid. The aim of the phisher in this scam is to collect your ATM or debit card PIN and other card information. This they can use to access your money by cloning your ATM card. They can also use your ATM/debit card to shop online. Do not respond to this scam e-mail. Never reveal your ATM PIN to anybody not even to officials of your bank.
Do not send your banking details to anyone
Once in a while you receive a scam e-mail claiming to be from your bank or even financial institutions you do not bank with. The method is the same as that of ATM PIN scam. The scam e-mail will usually request your bank account information or even your online banking detail, all they want is to collect your account details that will enable them access your account.
Do not click links within scam e-mails
Phishers are getting more advanced this days. The aim of some scam e-mails is to solicit an action from you that will initiate the installation of a malware on your computer. Usually this involves requesting you to click on a link within the e-mail. Once you fall for this scam a malware like a keylogger will be installed on your computer without your consent. The purpose is to monitor your activity on your computer and steal valuable information like passwords, PINS, and so on.
Be careful when clicking a link within an e-mail. Install a good anti-virus and firewall to improve your security while on the internet.
How do phishers get your e-mail address
Phishers and Spammers use email harvesting software to gather e-mail addresses from web pages. If your e-mail is listed in forums or comment pages of websites, your e-mail can be harvested and you will be a target of scam e-mails. Do not leave your e-mail or phone number in comment pages and forums.
Some popular scams include Lottery scam, ATM scam, fake job scam, love/relationship scam and charity scam. Yahoo mail addresses seems to perform poorly when it comes to filtering scam mails. Some times scam mails are misdirected to your Yahoo inbox instead of the spam/bulk box. Yahoo sometime even mistakes genuine mails for scam mails and direct them to the bulk box instead. That might be the reason why Yahoo seems to be the favourite target for scam e-mail. Gmail appears to handle scam e-mails better sending them to where they belong (spam box).
